Oil painting. Unknown artist, 18th Century. Portrait of Anne Andrews (1744-1785), the wife of James Pettit Andrews of Donnington Grove, near Newbury. She was also the daughter of Thomas Penrose, Rector of Newbury, the mother of Sir Joseph Andrews (2nd baronet). Anne Andrews died in October 1785, aged 41. This painting was purchased by the first Curator of West Berkshire Museum (then Newbury Museum) from a sale of antiques at Shaw House, Newbury, in 1905. This painting likely hung in the house amongst family portraits.
