A silk wedding dress worn by Esther Higgs of Cold Ash when she married John Charles Goddard of Boxford, 26th September 1861. Esther and John were married in Eccleston Congregational Chapel in the registration district of St George’s Hanover Square, Mayfair, London. This dress has a fitted bodice trimmed with a pleated ribbon and a ribbon bow. It has short oversleeves, long undersleeves and is lined with cotton.
