John Winchcombe the Younger (1519-1574) was the son of Jack of Newbury who served as MP for Reading, Ludgershall and Wooton Bassett. The painter of this portrait is unknown however it is believed they were one of the Anglo-Dutch school. The portrait was painted in 1550 when Winchcombe was 51 years old. His coat of arms are visible in the top left corner.
