Wooden bowl made by George Lailey

This bowl was made by George Lailey (1869–1958) , a wood turner who lived in Bucklebury and made bowls using a traditional foot operated pole lathe.  He mostly used elm wood to make his bowls which he then polished with turmeric that had been mixed into the beeswax.
