Palaeolithic hand axe found in Thatcham

This Palaeolithic hand axe was discovered in 1960 on the waste pile from a newly constructed gravel pit in Thatcham.  The gravel pit where the axe was discovered was 228 meters east from a dig site which included evidence of a site dedicated to the production of flint tools.
