‘Joelle (Jacket)’, 2021, by Jemima Brown. A sculpture representing a protester at Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp. The Peace Camps were established to protest against nuclear weapons being stored at RAF Greenham Common. The protests began in 1981 and continued until 2000 when the last camp was closed.

This sculpture was created as part of the project ‘Peace Camp’ in 2021, led by Jemima Brown, to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the camps. The sculptures were included in Jemima’s 2021 exhibition at West Berkshire Museum and satellite displays at community venues in and around Newbury and Greenham. The sculptures were purchased through a crowdfunding project supported by The Good Exchange, where it gratefully received donations from individuals, the Peter Baker Foundation, Members Bid and match-funding from the Greenham Trust.
